The strictness of demands imposed by legislators and operators on plants and systems employed in the process engineering industry is continuously increasing, with equal priority placed on safety, availability and environmental protection of all equipment. This book therefore focuses on the leakproof double hose-diaphragm pump, a solution belonging to the oscillating displacement pump group developed by the author, Heinz M. Nagel (mechanical engineer). At the heart of MULTISAFE double hose-diaphragm process pump are two hose-diaphragms which are arranged one inside the other. They fully enclose the linear flow path of the product and simultaneously ensure dual hermetic sealing from the hydraulic system. The particular advantage of this design is the linear flow path obtained by such an arrangement, so that it is especially conducive to the handling of aggressive, abrasive and solids carrying fluids. Unlike conventional peristaltic hose pumps with a purely mechanical action, the hose-diaphragm is not flexed or mechanically compressed. In step with the piston stroke, it is instead subject to pulsating action, comparable with that of a human vein. The pump is virtually "breathing" - bionics at work in industrial plants! Heinz M.
